     How and why Mystery and Miracle play start fading its essence?

Though Mystery and Miracle in differentiation, Mystery plays started its journey in 12th century of Middle age. As per the rules, Mystery plays enacted and played strictly by Clergymen in the Latin language.

 Later, due to the strict actions taken by clergy and pope of the Holy Church, Mystery plays started to disconnect its relationship with the church. Local and small towns borrowing this genre within itself.

 The successful part of Mystery plays stepping itself by using local vernacular languages. Local men took it as a chance to play Mystery plays by introduced at Corpus Christi Festival (1311) which was the festival celebrated just after 57 days of Easter.

 Pope Innocent III who officially declared the prohibition of Mystery plays.

By this Corpus Christi Festival, Mystery plays divided into 4 cycles.


* York Cycle - 48 pageants

* Towneley Cycle - 32 pageants

* Chester Cycle - 24 pageants

* Wakefield Plays - 42 pageants

Glossary:

Pageants: A group of people who have extremely decorated themselves by adorning flamboyant clothes & attires

 Eventually at the end of the 15th century and the rise of the reformation in England caused Mystery plays faded away by gave the replacement of Morality plays.

 Therefore why Morality plays were the branch and outcome of Mystery and Miracle Plays.
